Pros:
-100% reliable to date
-above average accuracy
-takes standard AKM parts
-4150 CMV barrel
-side rail
-mag lock up is solid
-finish looks even
-sights are straight
-price is very competitive
Potential cons:
-cast parts (notably the trunnions which certainly seem to have had issues in the first run particularly)
-no bayo lug
As stated in the video, I haven't had any issues with mine as others have. I think time will tell if Century got the heat treatment right after the initial run and I'll be staying tuned to see for myself.
Review:
So, I'm new to the forum. Wish I had known about AK Files before I purchased a RAS47 a few months ago. Not sure I would have made the same purchase or not after having read everything in these forums. I have seen some of the excessively worn parts after remarkably low round counts and things like that here on the forums. My RAS47 (after a few hundred rounds),however, has not shown any of the 'horror-story-excessive-wear' that I've been reading about. My RAS47 shoots well with a variety of ammo, hasn't had a cracked front trunion (yet), hasn't had and disfiguring of the hammer, bolt or bolt carrier, and most importantly, hasn't blown up in my face! LOL.
My question is as follows: Does anyone know if Century has made any improvements to their Quality Control processes? If yes, any idea what section of serial numbers they started at? I know it's gonna be hard to get an answer that doesn't involve a large amount of negative bias towards Century but I keep holding out hope that they will do good things as an American manufacturer of firearms (as I do hope all American firearm manufacturers will do good things).

- Nov 04, 2014 The serial number showed 2013 production. They had muzzle nuts that were welded to the front sight base. Is that the new normal? View Quote View All Quotes. View All Quotes. Quote History. Originally Posted By Farmer-Ted. [ARCHIVED THREAD] - WASR or wait for RAS47.
- I took in a ras47 on a trade, I have read all the bad reviews and seen just as many good reviews. I am trying to figure out the serial numbers. To figure out if it's a older or new model, it has the magpul furniture but also came with a wood set.

When we showed it to the factory representative he told us that the same.300 rifle is used to shoot stacks of 100 targets each, then fill in the serial number or each rifle. That saves a great deal of money.
